Mob attacks suspect in PNG

A MAN, believed to be part of a gang that held up a Chinese retail store inPNG's Madang capital  last Saturday, is being treated for injuries at the Modilon General Hospital.
The man, who is from Morobe, and five others reportedly held up a Chinese retail store at 4-Mile market outside Madang at 2pm on Saturday.
A witness said the man was the last to come out of the store and unsuccessfully tried to get onto a getaway vehicle.
A Madang police officer said: “The man threw a gun into the bus and tried to hop into the bus but was late as the bus sped off with the other gang members.”
He said bystanders chased the man and attacked him.
The officer said the man laid on the roadside for about 30 minutes before police arrived and took him to the hospital.
Police said the gang used a 15-seater bus as their getaway vehicle.
The driver was arrested later and locked at the Jomba cell.
Police have also recovered the bus.
