PNG happy with India Prime Minister

Papua New Guinea's Foreign Minister says yesterday's meeting in Fiji between Pacific leaders and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a great success.

Mr Modi used the meeting to announce several initiatives he hopes will broaden India's engagement in the Pacific.

PNG's Foreign Minister Rimbink Pato says India, an English-speaking Commonwealth country, has a lot to offer the region and he looks forward to greater cooperation.

And he hosed down suggestions of a rift between the host and PNG.
