Local PNG MP sends students to study in New Zealand

Port Moresby (EMTV). Five students from the Sohe District in the Northern Province have been given an opportunity to study at the Lincoln University in Auckland New Zealand.

This was made possible by the Member for Sohe Delilah Gore through the support of the Sohe District 'Joint District Budget Planning Committee'.
It is all part of her human development efforts.

Mrs Gore said K400, 000 was budgeted by the Joint District Budget Planning Committee to sponsor the students.

This is the first step the member has taken to alleviate the level of education to boost human resource in her area.

“This students are the assets for the district and because Lincoln University program is mostly based on Agriculture, Tourism, Environment Management, Commerce Forestry and Landscaping. I believe these things are helpful to my district,” said Sohe MP Delilah Gore.

The students will undergo a four year program majoring in various fields of study that is Agri-Business, International Business, Commerce and Economics and Supply chain Management.

Program Coordinator Philip Yendowe said the LincWantok Program is directly tied to the development needs of the electorate and students are expected to return to their electorate after completing their studies.

Students studying under this program have registered a 75 per cent success rate since inception in 2010.
