A MAN wanted for allegedly killing six people in Gulf PNG is on the run and believed to be hiding somewhere in Port Moresby, according to Gulf provincial police commander Chief Insp Lincoln Gerari.
Gerari said the man, identified only by his first name Robert, had fled Gulf after police in Kerema started looking for him.
“He is now believed to be residing at 8-Mile, 9-Mile or Gerehu in Port Moresby,” he said.
Gerari warned that Robert was allegedly a serial killer and was dangerous to the public.
He said the latest victim was a man in his 60s who was dragged out of his home and killed.
“The latest killing episode happened on Aug 15,” he said.
“Police in Gulf are looking for him. I believe he is hiding in Port Moresby,” Gerari told The National via telephone from Kerema last Friday.
He said Robert was about 30 years old.
Gerari is appealing to the public in Gulf and Port Moresby to assist police with any information of his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, he said the law and order situation in Gulf was generally good except for petty crimes in Kerema town.
“With these offences increasing, the police in Gulf have imposed K1,000 fines on people committing these offences,” he said.
