A MAN was speared to death by the relatives of a female student he fell in love with, according to police in PNG.
The incident happened at Biwat village, Angoram, East Sepik, on Tuesday.
Rural Police Station Commander Insp James Baugen said the man was killed with a spear made from an iron rod sharpened at both ends. It went right through his body.
Baugen said the girl, a student at Biwat Primary School, had taken the man to her house.
But her father and two brothers apparently disapproved of their relationship and attacked the man.
Police, who were on election duty at Angoram, travelled to the village on Tuesday to investigate and took the body to the Wewak General Hospital mortuary.
Baugen said police had arrested the father of the girl and her two brothers. They were taken to the Wewak police station.
