Father guilty of raping step-daughter in the Solomon Islands

The 51-year-old father who raped his teenage step-daughter has been found guilty of the offences yesterday in the High Court in the Solomon Isalnds, the Solomon Islands Star reports..

Justice Francis Mwanesalua found the Temotu father guilty of three counts of the eight counts of rape charges laid against him.

Another two rape charges has been dismissed following a no case to answer submission lodged by his lawyer at the end of the prosecution case.

The rape incidents occurred between 2008 and 2012 at White River, West Honiara and Henderson in East Honiara.

Sentencing submissions and mitigation will be made in court on February 27.

Anderson Kesaka of Public Solicitor's Office represents the accused while Crown Prosecutor Nelson Dhita is representing the State.
