PNG man in court for raping his wife

A MAN charged with allegedly raping his wife was allowed bail when he appeared at the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar allowed K500 bail to Jones Aigisi, from the Forgy village, in Bereina, Central, and extended it until Nov 4 when he is to appear again.
The court heard that the defendant allegedly had sex with his wife without her consent on Aug 12.
The defendant had a de facto relationship with the victim for a month and then went to the victim’s home at Bomana and committed the offence, the court heard.
The court advised Agisi that his case would go through the normal committal process after police had completed their investigation.
Prosecutor John Wamuru told court that the offence occurred because a relationship had existed.
He proposed adjournment until Nov 4.
Court imposed orders that the accused should not interfere with the witness.
