A MAN has been committed to trial in Port Moresby's Waigani National Court for raping his four-year-old step daughter.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, when committing the man from Kup village in Kerowagi, Chimbu, said there was a prima facie case made out and the evidence was sufficient to warrant committal.
The committal court heard that the man was charged with three counts of engaging himself in a sexual act with the child under 12-years from Aug 2012 in Port Moresby. Police alleged that there was an existing relationship of trust as the man was the step father of the victim.
The court heard that the victim’s late father was a Correctional Service officer and her mother, from Chimbu, was engaged in a relationship with the step father.
The man will appear at the Waigani National Court on Feb 23.
